Mus Musculus

Diet:
Fancy mice are best fed either on a commercial rodent mix such as Gerri Gerbil or on a home made mixture consisting of clipped oats, puppy meal, parakeet seeds, flaked maize and flaked peas. Small amounts of fruit and vegetables can be fed but be careful not to over do this particularly if your mice are not used to the fresh stuff.
Enclosures:
Mice are best kept either in a tank with a tightly fitting lid or in a cage with narrow bar spacing. If you are breeding your mice then tanks are the best choice to ven escapees.
Life Span:
Mice unfortunatly only live for around two years although can sometimes live longer.
Compatability:
Females should always be kept in pairs or small groups, males are best kept individually as they are highly territorial. If you are breeding your mice be sure to take the male out before your female gives birth other wise she will get pregnant again straight away and will be lactating and pregnant at the same time. this dramatically hortens their life span.
